When you carry a calling, you already know it’s not for the faint of heart. People get threatened by it. You make mistakes with it. Sometimes you sabotage yourself before anyone else even gets the chance. And when all that piles up, shame starts whispering: “See? You’re not cut out for this. Maybe you made it up. Maybe you’re not really called.”
Here’s the problem: if you buy that lie, you’ll start shrinking back from your own mandate. You’ll hesitate to identify with it. And the second you do? Boom—you run face-first into wall after wall.
This is the part nobody wants to talk about. Every time you tiptoe around your calling instead of owning it, your whole life feels smaller.
Why? Because deep down your heart is screaming: “Don’t go all in. Don’t identify with it. Last time it cost you. Someone took it. You’ll end up humiliated again.”
So instead of walking lock-step with your calling, you keep circling it, exhausted and frustrated, wondering why life feels like wading through molasses.
And so the burnout kicks in.
Look at Paul. God gave him a crystal-clear mandate: preach to the Gentiles. But guilt dragged him back to the Jews over and over. God told him don’t go there—he went anyway. Prophets warned him—he ignored them. Result? Shipwreck. Prison. Resistance everywhere he turned.
But here’s the kicker: even Paul’s mismanagement didn’t cancel his mandate. Thousands of years later, nobody has had his level of impact. Because God guards the calling.
Here’s the truth: the limitations you keep running into aren’t proof. They’re the fallout of trying to half-own it. Shame makes you reluctant to identify with your calling, and reluctance keeps you locked in limitation.
So ask yourself:
Your mandate isn’t fragile—it’s fortified. God guards what you entrust to Him, and He is able to deliver you into it. But here’s the truth: half-owned callings build full-blown roadblocks.
It’s time to move back into alignment with what He already secured. Stop circling it. Stop doubting it. The calling isn’t going anywhere. The only question is—will you believe enough to walk in it?
If you won’t identify with it, you’ll keep circling it. The calling isn’t going anywhere. The only question is—are you going to keep giving shame the microphone, or finally ditch the shame and go all in again?
➡️ Your calling isn’t fragile—and neither are you. If you’re ready to stop circling and finally walk in what God’s already secured, my book From Prosperity to Providence will show you how to cut through the lies and reclaim your mandate.
