We brought home a Christmas surprise today! This guy…
Pets have been a matter of contention in our house for years. I grew up with dogs and cats but Rimmel never had pets. When I heard about a persian cat being rehomed I brought Peaches home to our first apartment.
It peed on everything. According to Rimmel it had zero issues while I was away on a business trip for a week but as soon as I returned she peed on our down comforter. So Peaches went to live with my mom where she never had any issues. Go figure.
A few months later I started having uncontrolable allergies and had to go through the fun testing where they prick you with a million needles. My allergies? Dogs and cats. The allergist said I developed the allergy due to having pets and then not having pets. I still blame Rimmel. Somehow it’s his fault.
Fast forward to 2007 when two little Shit-zu’s wondered into our garage. They had found their way out of our neighbors yard and came to visit Rimmel. Happy and wagging their cute little tails, in they walked into our lives. And 8 months later, out they went. They say there are no dumb dogs, only dumb owners. That’s probably true because try as we might we could not figure out how potty train those dogs. We tried everything but it was a miserable living experience.
And so, we found an older couple who had a ranch in northern Arizona where her own Shit-zu’s lived happily, running around and loving life. She wanted to bring the dogs home for Christmas so we sold her the dogs on Christmas Eve for $100.00 each. Our poor daughters woke up Christmas day with their puppies gone. We hoped that Christmas presents would lesson the shock and in our shame we even gave the girls the money. We are the worst parents ever.
And we owed our girls big time.
But we swore we would never do the dog thing again until we could buy the smartest breed possible, pay for puppy (owner) training, and the girls were old enough to do the majority of dog’s care.
Einstein is an Aussiedoodle! Half Australian Shepherd, half Poodle, this is one of the smartest breeds! We drove 3 hours to pick Einstein up from the breeder. Here is his first moments with Daddy…
We had NO idea he was going to be this big! He is only 12 weeks old! Both of his parents are medium size dogs but looking at these paws, I’m thinking he’s going to be bigger. He slept the entire way home without any issues.
We happen to get back to Phoenix right as Madison was getting off work at Best Buy so we waited in the parking lot to surprise her. I wish I had my camera out to catch the giant smile on her face! She was STUNNED.
Waiting to meet Madison in our Christmas bow…
Getting to know Hallie…
Self portraits… 😉
So far we are thrilled with this sweet little guy. He has melted our hearts! I’m praying really hard for reasonable sleep, a not-so-torn up house, and little to no puppy disasters. 😉
